The total length of national highways awarded under NHDP has grown at a CAGR of 17.61 per cent from 763.33 km in 2003-04 to 7,397 km in 2017-18. Further, PPP awards declined sharply from 2012-13 after reaching a high of 6,380 km in 2011-12.
On an average, around 2,245 km of national highways have been constructed each year during the period 2000-01 to 2017-18. The construction rate during the period averaged around 5.04 km per day.
